THE AUTHOR
Miller is Emeritus Professor of Agricultural and Applied Economics, The University of Georgia and former director of the USDA Marketing Assistance Project (MAP) in Armenia from 1998–2000. His work, which helped transition Armenia from the collapse of communism to a market economy through venture capital investment, was named the USDA’s most successful international project in 2002. Miller’s initiatives led to the creation of over 65 new agribusiness firms, the Armenian Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development (CARD), and the Agribusiness Teaching Center, which later became part of the Armenian National Agrarian University. Drawing on decades of international economic development experience, he brings a unique perspective on how venture capital, rather than government aid, can drive lasting change.
